African Country-Assessments Directory
Many persons from many countries have been involved in the production of these country-reports. These are volunteers – many are not professional penologists or academics. They are individuals who are keenly interested in how these systems work, and what we can do to make them better. Each has done his or her best to answer serious questions about the prison systems in a particular country, drawing information from many sources. As expected, some have been more successful than others, and not everything can be verified. All have shed very valuable light on the issues.
